About Me

I’m Dr. Tracey King, a licensed psychologist that has spent over a decade helping people thrive through the power of therapy. At Thriving Haven, I provide a safe place where people have the opportunity to work on themselves in individual therapy.

My personal and professional experiences have helped me develop a deeper understanding of the human condition. I have observed how psychological and emotional issues impact a person’s quality of life. I know that there are times when people are barely coping or feel like enjoying life is impossible.

My experiences, however, have also shown me people’s inherent ability to work through challenging circumstances. I’ve witnessed the undefeatable power of resilience. Therefore, I honestly believe people have the ability to persevere and thrive amid life’s obstacles.

I am passionate about empowering people to conquer their obstacles and improve their overall well-being. As a psychologist, I have worked with people from different cultures dealing with a wide range of issues. My approach to treatment is tailored to met the specific needs of each client. I integrate elements from various effective, evidence-based techniques to help people with emotional and psychological issues. Some of the modalities include:cognitive-behavioral therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, humanistic therapy, supportive therapy, solution-focused therapy, and mindfulness and relaxation training.

I believe that life’s journey isn’t always straight–there are many twists and turns, as well as detours. I will work with you to figure out your roadblocks and build on your personal strengths. We’ll explore your history and patterns, so you can understand their impact and make meaningful changes. We will do this in a supportive, safe environment where you feel respected and encouraged to face your challenges.

My Approach

I began my academic career by obtaining an associate degree in biology. But, I have always had a strong desire to help others overcome their difficulties. Realizing my passion, I switched my major and graduated with a bachelor of arts in psychology from Kent State University. From there, I earned a master’s and doctoral degree in clinical psychology from Xavier University.

My clinical training involved working with children, adolescents, and adults. I have extensive expertise in providing clinical assessment and therapy. I am well versed in various types of therapy and evidence-based treatments. This includes cognitive-behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, mindfulness, acceptance and commitment therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy, and humanistic therapy.

My Training & Education

As an experienced and clinical trained psychologist, I have covered a wide range of mental health concerns. Psychotherapy has proven to be effective in treating people with conditions such as depression and anxiety, but people with normal life transitions and stressors can also benefit. During the intake process, I conduct an assessment to help clarify concerns and identify mental health issues so I can provide a personalized treatment plan.

I specialize in treating mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, life transitions, relationship issues, personal growth, stress management, and skills development
